Our Story

​​​​Beginning​

 

​​​​Our journey began in 2020, as initiated by our founder, Khopotso Mtwazi, a development practitioner, storyteller and memories curator, who noticed that knowledge of her family's history was gradually being lost as elders passed on, and limited historical information was passed down from one generation to the next.

​​

​The intergenerational gatherings in her own family, where they were able to bond over shared memories, also served as an inspiration to our founder. The value of holding on to these memories became apparent to her from a tender age, as she assumed the role of family memories guardian and photographer capturing the spontaneous family moments.

Discovering the only surviving photograph of her late grandmother and coming across family obituary records following the passing of her late father.

Experiencing a profoundly moving experience with a living elders during curating a legacy coffee table book for her late father.

These encounters ignited a passion to create a sanctuary where moments can be mindfully celebrated, legacies could be carefully preserved and passed down, ensuring that the stories that shape us would never be forgotten.

She set out to create a brand that would not only help people capture their most meaningful experiences but also encourage them to celebrate their roots and pass down their legacies as sentimental gifts that keep on giving across generations through impact.

 

She envisioned a service that was more than just a digital archive—it was a living record, a testament to the lives that came before and a gift for those to come.

​​​​We began with the initial "Khumbula ekhaya" collection comprised of memory boxes, family tree charts, and coffee table photo albums. Every product was crafted with care to preserve captivating stories, cherished traditions, and unforgettable moments, guaranteeing their timeless legacy for generations to come. ​​Our dedication to excellence and attention to detail is synonymous with our brand.
